Severe Weather 3/9 - 3/12

I’m really concerned about the rural communities that may have potentially taken a direct hit from the Knox, IN tornado as it was at peak intensity. That radar signature was quite possibly the worst of the night.

Was that the 5-10 minute stretch that the CC drop was enormous and indicated black pixels? The area just west and running northwest in relation to Knox is a section of large farm fields and a small river. Maybe and hopefully just intense tree damage and lofting. There is a small airport.

I mean it started near Wheatland and possibly hit the town of Wheatland, and it tracked right over several rural homes and small communities before hitting the airport. Just hoping that it missed them all.

There were some rural communities that the tornado seemed to have directly went over. Really hoping it’s not the case though.
 
It looks like there may be a new record for the largest hailstone in Illinois:



That storm was a real beast to produce not only several large tornadoes, but also some of the largest hail ever recorded east of the Mississippi River!:eek:
