I'm surprised they didn't bump up the winds.
It is, aside from the pressure change from 941 mb to 933 mb now.

That smoothed out quickly. It's now a much more symmetrical CDO temp wise.

Melissa is jogging south again,
That seemed like a decent jog to the SW just now, based on IR. Maybe it'll keep doing that before turning and miss the island.

Not with a model consensus this universal on a Jamaica landfall.
As for the storm itself I see 2 distinct possibilities:
1. I see a C5 when I wake up tomorrow morning or at least at some point tomorrow
2. "Close enough, welcome back Hurricane Eta"

I'm closer to leaning on number 2. Would it a new record of advisories issued forecasting a category 5 only for that to never be confirmed?

Regarding the SW jog, remember that hurricanes often dip southwest just before initiating a northerly turn. This is a well-documented phenomenon.
That being said, it could be a wobble, or an adjustment to a more southerly track.
