You called this one @Tanner, in response to me positing that our bigger outbreaks were probably done for the year. I think today definitely shut my prediction down lolThe long range models would like to argue against your projection of no more higher-end outbreaks. Classic trough ejection around the 13th-15th of May with plenty of compact features to it.
This is why I added the “I personally” to my comment.Y'all, can I request that we stop suggesting people drive away from tornadoes? By the time a warning comes through, it is going to be too late for a member of the general public to try to drive to safety.
Most folks don't know much about reading a radar, let alone storm structure or how to know which way to go to escape a tornado (or avoid others that may be in the area).
While there have been deaths in basements from some of the most extreme tornadoes, those deaths are an extreme outlier. People are going to be much safer going to shelter in their home or very nearby (all the folks in the church basement made me happy to hear about), especially if they can get underground.
I know at least one of the posts was along the lines of "if I lived here I would drive away," but there were at least two others saying "people in X area should drive away." Please realize that there are a lot of lurkers on these forums, many who aren't very knowledgeable about weather phenomena. But now they've seen your suggestion to drive away from a tornado, which may impact them immediately or in the future. And that is a very dangerous thing.
Just... Please be careful when you post things that could be read as giving advice for how to shelter. Most people are going to be much safer sheltering at home or in the immediate vicinity. A car is a horrible place to be during a storm, especially when it's dark and you're tired and you don't have a lot of knowledge to help you determine where to go to be safe.
Edit: I know I sound bossy and I'm sorry for that. I hate that. But I do feel like this needed to be said, because what people say here can absolutely affect a lot more people than just those actively posting in the threads.
Nighttime El Reno.Due to active severe weather I'm not going to send potentially-misleading "non-current" photos in its respective thread and clog it up, but I'll post them here instead. Here are some insane photos of last night's Greensburg-Plevna tornado, which may have been up to two miles in diameter:

Definitely going to go down as one of the scarier tornadoes of all time, even if there were no casualties.
Honestly, I’d say it was more like a nighttime Hallam (0.1 miles thinner than El Reno). Entire funnel was visible for probably all of its life.Nighttime El Reno.
I always had Piedmont being the scariest tornado I’ve ever seen. This one just took its number one spot for me.Due to active severe weather I'm not going to send potentially-misleading "non-current" photos in its respective thread and clog it up, but I'll post them here instead. This kind of thing is ragebait to me - I get very annoyed with people who have this mentality. Sure, you get bad weather in Texas, it's normal. What isn't normal is a tornadic supercell approaching that is currently producing a tornado, potentially strong, which may be on the DFW metroplex's doorstep in less than an hour. They lucked out when it died as quickly as it did right before entering the city. Quit whinging about something you can watch well after the fact for entertainment. People died that night. Not posting the whole article, but just a portion . From the Dallas morning news (This was from last nights storms) 5/18
Dallas fans outraged after Pete Delkus’ weather report steals American Idol’s thunder
A station executive said its priority is always keeping communities safe.
“You had to take away the last 10 minutes of the entire 2025 season,” one viewer wrote on X. “It’s spring in Texas. We get bad weather. That is not news. That’s Sunday night in May.”
“I’m so angry!” another wrote on Facebook. “How incredibly rude to state for hours he didn’t want to keep us from Idol, then talked thru the most important part.”

I was watching online, and they didn't even go full live until there actually was a warning for Ft Worth or Dallas itself, only commercial breaks... While there was a wedge on the ground. That's how little you can please people. Not posting the whole article, but just a portion . From the Dallas morning news (This was from last nights storms) 5/18
