Severe Weather 2025

This year has been absurd in terms of weather. So far this year we have had 2 HIGH risks, both of which verified, and atleast 3 EF-4s. We aren't even in the 2nd MJO cycle and I'd already consider this quite an active season.

Also, the majority of tornadoes, flooding, etc happened in Arkansas. Why is Arkansas so active this year?
the troughs have all been kinked back toward the west. it’s been this way for a few years now where lows are following it northward before leaving texas instead of louisiana. alabama is appreciative.

I actually cannot comprehend how insane this year has already been for severe weather. We are only in early April and we have already had several significant tornado days happen, 2 high risk days, numerous intense EF3+ tornadoes, and unfortunately quite a lot of fatalities. I am just in shock at how alarming this year has ramped up and the surprises it’s given us.

What does the next couple of weeks look like on the severe front?

I think it should quiet down for a little while, with a cooler pattern shunting moisture off the Gulf Coast for the next week to 10 days. Some chaser types are pretty pessimistic about the rest of April, but I'm not seeing a total shutdown. I think chances should return after about the 15th.

Violent spring someone said Itccould be and oy @AJS . Last year we had 44 ef3s but we’re at 18 now (depending on if some get eF4). Last year was very active but I had feeling if this year was more active in south/Tennessee and Ohio valleys we would see more fatalities and damage well because that’s how it goes unfortunately. I had no idea it would start this bad but I did know if we saw major tornadoes return to the south and mid south it would not be pretty. Didn’t see Missouri taking the lead though for fatalities.

Humidity Another big mjo wave forecasted bout 2 weeks out, we get back active then
I am ready to say peace out humidity..

Is that the prevailing mood on Storm Track? The reason why I ask is: I remember last year on April 25th after a bit of a Atmospheric Anti-Climax forecast, before the season just went crazy until the end of May, a lot of chasers on there were calling a wrap on the season haha. I believe even Warren was saying he had never seen a season like this and just didn’t see any severe weather set ups on the horizon and most were ready to call a wrap on the season.
