I'm sure the winter weather/snow threat isn't done yet. It's just getting delayed and pushed back like our severe weather threat was. I would be more surprised if we did not get any snow or wintry precip during the next few weeks especially with the overall pattern.

I am not liking the forecast up here in Pennsylvania for the next week. We got spoiled the last week.
Well... The 12z GFS Just said hold my beer for the state of Alabama this Saturday.

I’m shocked the immediate Gulf Coast could get measurable snow two winters in a row.
According to the 18z nam; snow in Tennessee valley Friday night. And then maybe snow for the deep south Sunday night/ Monday? The model doesn't go out far enough
18z GFS pretty much a copy of the 12z with snow in the same corridor.
From NWS Tallahatchie:
There are 3 potential scenarios that can play out Sunday morning:
Scenario #1:
The precipitation outruns the cold and we're stuck with an all rain event. The cold is delayed just long enough to limit any snow accumulation potential.
Scenario #2:
The cold arrives, as advertised, and allows for a sudden change over to wintry weather (read snow). If this scenario were to play out, there'd be a 1 to 3 hour window for snow before quickly exiting to the east Sunday morning. Exact timing would be tricky leading up to the event, much less 3.5-4 days out.
Scenario #3:
The trough is a little more east than forecast and we get a dry frontal passage. That means little to no rain; no wintry weather. Just cold.

Yes, 18z is copy of 12z GFS, but a bit north with heaviest snow. However, I'm sitting here questioning how the northern portion of the Deep South keeps out of it and the only way I see it is if there's just too much overwhelming of the cold air.
One of the more varied ensembles I have seen in a while.

0z GFS has the corridor of highest snowfall accumulation more north.
Would not be surprised if the main area of focus is along or south of I-20.
