Not a met, but I’m fairly certain it’s simply random chance, 2023, 2022, and 2021 were definitely active tornado years. All three had an Ef4 tornado before it even hit April.
2023 was the most active year for tornadoes in summer months since 2019.
So 2024 could be the year where tornado outbreak setups just don’t hit their mark this time around.

Kind of weird to see someone observing a tornado this late whenever the rest of the system has "Atmospheric Anti-Climax".

Okay, yeah. That is starting to pull together a large mesocyclone. Presentation of the storm overall is getting better too. Heading towards Lawrence KS and points northeast.

I’m getting a bad vibe from this one. Not to many times where convergence signatures like that a tornado doesn’t form at least briefly.

ZDR spike on the left image. Indicating that the storm is alive and well for being surface based. This one has the look. Lyndon needs to get to shelter now.

Velocity couplet got real tight on the latest scan. Tornado about drop possible in next frame or two.

Edit: It weakened almost immediately. In brand with 2024 though.

Okay. It miraculously weakened because its rfd cut off the circulation. Still might try and recycle to the east though.

Unwarned tornado in progress, those always seem to be the one that cause damage.

Edit: now warned, though it’s dissipated, still has a tight couplet.

I see tomorrow I'm under a slight risk now for severe weather, and a 5% tornado risk. Nothing crazy, but hey, maybe 2024 will continue to troll us and this will end up being the biggest day, lol.

BTW, somewhat "old" news, but within the past hour tornado watches have been put in place from Nebraska to Illinois.
