Summer Weather 2019

Yiiiikes... certainly feels like it too. The actual temperature isn't that bad but dew points are so high that it's honestly painful whenever the sun is fully out. Yaaaay for working outdoors with no shade!

We've been around or above 100 for weeks and it looks like it is stuck here in Austin until the middle of September.

107 the other day... it is dangerous. The low hasn't been below 80 in weeks.

We are moving north when our rent runs out in 1 1/2 years.

Y'all know I am not normally one to call for rain during the summer, but we need it. You can really tell around the Birmingham metro, particularly the southern part, that it is dry. The grass is turning brown in a lot of areas. My asthma needs the dust to settle.

At least some signs of early Fall are beginning to show 'up North'. We still have a ways to go for cooler weather but it is nice to look at the cooler shades of blue/purple on this map and at least dream a little.

Valid for 8/23

GFS wants to get DPs back in the 50s out in voodoo land. I saw it was putting DPs in the 40s on a run yesterday.

Just a little thunderstorm here this afternoon...half dollar sized hail and 58 mph wind gusts at Andrews AFB a few minutes ago.

Pretty sure the deficit here was mostly erased just today, with a stationary storm dumping heavy rain for about an hour at sunset then two more storms after that. Unexpectedly great way to end a day, that ought to help the garden and settle some dust even if stream levels are still low. Can't ask for much better in August.
