You are right, there will be a dramatic difference over a small distance. With the cold air being so shallow, there will be a surprise or two, a very difficult forecast.Cut off for significant frozen precip is going to be stout. It could be raining in ttown and 20 min away ice piling up in gordo. But Its so close i understand why nws included tuscaloosa co in the warning especially for the nw corner of the county where icing is more likely. It does create a lot of confusion however when we are in this situation.
Whirling Welcome to the page. Yep, it is cold well too far to the south. Next time you go measure, take a picture. I would love to see it.I'm pretty satisfied with the roughly 2" of snow I measured IMBY... haha. Ice is no fun, I feel bad for y'all who have to deal with just that (not that snow can't be dangerous too, of course). Was freezing my butt off when I went outside to measure. Hoping that everyone stays safe.
Will do tomorrow morning, by the time all of the snow is throughWhirling Welcome to the page. Yep, it is cold well too far to the south. Next time you go measure, take a picture. I would love to see it.
Looks like the event is almost over for the night. Still some sleet but it’s starting to dissipatePrecipitation here in southern madison county is all rain, and we're at about 30 degrees at the surface. I'm afraid If I can make it to work in the morning I'll end up stuck there for awhile as my shift isn't over until 9pm. They have accomodations setup but I'd honestly rather walk in the cold to a hotel... Or just stay on the clock until we shutdown an area and sleep on a stretcher lol.
