Winter WX Snow Threat on Tuesday (Jan 16, 2018)

I gotta say the recent SREF plumes for BHM are meh. Trending drier overall....

I don’t quite see what the fuss is all about....yes it could flash freeze with anything that falls....but weren’t we in the teens for a bit before all heck broke loose in 2014?

Spann posted today that the day before the storm in 2014 the high in Bham was 53.

Something tells me the SREF is slightly underdone based on trends to our NW. Hope I'm wrong....
Many of the models have shown that line diminishing once it’s into AL and then coming back together in some form below BHM. Ratios will be higher than 10:1 for sure...just have to wonder about the moisture overall.

Models have progged what seems to be a jet reconfiguration over north Alabama (leading to lower QPF totals in this area) for a couple day. What made them spontaneously able to predict such a fine detail fairly consistently and cooperatively? I haven't a clue. I just hope that doesn't happen :)

HUN considering upgrading to a WSW for some counties in NW Alabama based on whats going on upstream from here.

Temps this morning on the way in to work were in the upper 20s in East Walker Co. to 34 once I got downtown (Bham). Still have plenty hours to go before the precip arrives.

Once this starts, gonna stick very quickly.

12z NAM has the eastern edge of now not going past Winston county as the line fades from the west. It looks like this is busting....first sign of overperforming

I am confused. You said it's busting ..and that's the first sign of overperforming? I'm learning, y'all. Please forgive my ignorance.
