Considering how NWS Dodge City has been rating tree damage, I think an EF4 rating is possible.

Not sure, but whatever it is, it seems pretty good at surviving tornadoes.

Are there any photos of tree damage on the Dodge City portion of the tornado’s track? Wichita’s not going to rate any tree damage EF4 based on the single EF3 DI on their portion, but Dodge City has been consistently giving EF3 ratings to tree damage.

The residence it encountered is a pure stone house, like almost made 100％ of stone even maybe some concrete, I'd call this a true EF5 DI if one can manage level it. It's unbelievable that a house of this fashion was built in the middle of nowhere in Plains.

Hard to tell right now. I’d wait until I see more damage pics come out from that area. For right now, I think these have been the strongest of the year based on the damage they produced.

This well illustrated the inconsistency between different WFO, DDC might be one of those generous NWS office when it comes to tor rating, the only other offices that willing to rate tons of EF3/4 DI purely based on tree are JAX and PAH I believe. Wonder if the Greensburg cell occurred in ICT's CWA, should we get so many EF3s.

Oh my lord, just found this DI from the Grinnell survey:

This is a 112 mph EF2 DI with zero comment on how the house disappeared and instead chose to focus on damage to neighboring homes. This is one of the worst surveys I’ve ever seen.

Partial/Severe debarking and violent scouring always gives a big sign that a violent tornado occurred.

But do they have building damage to go on, or simply the debarking and the ground scouring?
