On this day in 2010, North MS saw a White Christmas with up to one inch of snow in Amory, MS. A 16-year-old Johnny Parker of Smithville experienced his first White Christmas.

General pattern looks to support multiple strong/severe threats in the southeast around/shortly after New Years, and a good bit of rain in general. Looks like pacific air floods the country and multiple systems eject out of the west and swing up into the Midwest/Ohio Valley.
It's a beautiful pattern for the western drought, much of the west looks to see a lot of valley rain/mountain snow over the next 7-10 days. Looks like mostly rain for me near Ogden, UT, maybe some snow by the end of the week.
Looks like I am right in the middle of it, SMH.. If the SPC ends up highlighting this area, I might make a thread and watch carefully. As mentioned by @JBishopwx a heavy rain/flash flood and severe weather threat is on the horizon. The last time we had a severe weather threat around New Years was 2010/2011.
