Actually monitoring the WI/IL line ahead of the low late this afternoon despite SPC removing essentially all of northern IL from tornado probabilities on the current outlook. Abundant sunshine across IL and the HRRR soundings have impressive hodographs and high 3CAPE, along with a few simulated discrete cells although not much updraft helicity is portrayed with them, it usually isn't in these scenarios.

Looks like sidelobe/clear air contamination to me.

Ok it can stop now..
It doesn't line up with the hook (too much to the east) and the stronger inbound velocities line up with clear air (very low/no reflectivity returns)

Not sure.. was there a brief tornado? HmmWind damage or a tornado?
May they rest in peace.

That's some uncomfortably strong wording. Probably gonna see a higher end tornado watch out of this.

Maybe the Californian in me is showing, but these tornado events that happen in the vicinity of the New Madrid fault always make me a bit extra uneasy.
