Severe Weather Threat 5/25-5/26, 2024

Theoretically speaking, could you cut a DVD sized hailstone into a thin sheet, and then put it into a DVD player?
Assuming you did this in the Arctic so the ice wouldn't melt immediately, then yes. But since there's no readable data in the ice, the player won't play anything.

Actually, scratch that. I don't know about DVD players, but legend has it that if you play a CD-shaped hailstone in a CD player, you'll hear Schmoyoho's Tornado Song.

Jokes on you I use gorilla hail as a punch enhacer. The freezing cold is a miner inconvience.

That reminds me of an anecdote that I heard about how Ted Fujita once collected hailstones from a hailstorm and used them to chill his drink.

This doesn’t look like a damaged warm sector to me.

The extent of WS was never much of a question afaik, they were consistently modelled to be extremely robust even behind the main convection (one of the few things they're getting right today), it's just a question of what convection manages to establish itself within said environment, become rooted, and how they interact with each other.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the convection currently crossing into KS from northern OK supposed to start moving more due east as the LLJ ramps up?
Potentially, will likely grow upscale into an MCS later this evening, assuming it sticks around.
