Even though the storms in central Iowa are a linear mess now, the models still are forecasting further break up into a more discrete mode in the coming hours, the low level jet will only get stronger as well.

There could be worse damage elsewhere, but this looks a bit less intense than I expected for a radar-indicated high-end (~190-mph) EF4. There is some scouring but I would have anticipated more thorough debarking and slabbing/wind-rowing. There is still a fair amount of debris left on or near unanchored foundations. Context definitely supports a violent tornado, nonetheless. At any rate, regardless of rating, this event has done more than its share of destruction and will rightly be recalled for a long time.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Southern Rogers County in northeastern Oklahoma...
West central Mayes County in northeastern Oklahoma...

* Until 615 PM CDT.

* At 533 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 3 miles northeast of Verdigris, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.
