Severe WX Severe Weather Threat 3/14-3/16

A figure courtesy of Ian Livingston at US Tornadoes, displaying warnings and tornado reports over the course of the outbreak. I believe it's missing a few tornado reports from PA, but other than that it's quite comprehensive. There were over 300 Tornado Warnings issued, with the highest concentrations over MO/AR and MS/AL. You can see how the most long-tracked tornadoes/families came from supercells moving more easterly.

Makes sense. Didn’t see any glaring evidence of EF5 damage. Very glad it’s being categorized as an EF4 though. 100% deserved the rating.
Have little doubt though that it reached EF5 strength.
Honestly, I think that the only thing keeping Diaz from solid EF5 was a cleaner sweep of debris. It came close, but high-end EF4 is a perfectly reasonable call for this one.
Much agreed. Definitely might’ve had a shot if it was a cleaner sweep. Debris granulation and contextual damage was honestly there. It had some hall marks of “ The look. “

It looks like the Gordo, AL tornado will be rated EF-2. PNS from NWS BMX:

"A damage survey team found EF-2 tornado damage in the Gordo
community in Pickens County. More detailed information should be
avaliable tonight."
Is there something about the vegetation density in that area that caused a more intense-looking TDS? If it's a logging area, could there be a lot of younger trees that were more easily broken and lofted? OTOH, this region is covered with dense vegetation and logging areas, so that makes me think this isn't a likely explanation since it would happen pretty frequently.
