Severe Weather 3/4 - 3/8

I'm honestly ok with Union City's rating, whether they leave it at EF3/165 or bump it up to EF4/170. If it were up to me I'd probably side with a low-end EF4 rating, but high-end EF3 isn't egregious either.

A lot of the supposed "scouring" is just an area next to a plowed farm field that had no grass to begin with, though it was likely disturbed by the tornado.

Same. They are atleast considering it though.

Still, not a terrible rating.

This is exactly what I wanted to find out, thanks for the update. In that case, I wouldn’t call this a high-end event candidate like I was initially considering. You gotta be 100% sure of what you’re looking at when you have potential grass scouring, and I wasn’t totally sure, so this puts it to rest. It definitely straddles the EF3/EF4 line though.

It also once again shows you how rare genuine grass scouring is, and how violent of a tornado you have to have for it to even begin to happen.

The radar presentation of these storms in Alabama has been pretty unusual. This QLCS, which has had an on-and-off wind threat with it, has exhibited a lot of very distinct cellularization among its individual storms. I'm curious as to exactly why that would be occurring.

This can be explained.

The cold front which is the main forcing mechanism behind this MCS is weak/dying, so, correspondingly, leads to a discontinuous QLCS.

I do admittedly agree and as good as it is seeing those sometimes insightful posts. The place is a absolute cesshole. It isn't bad to be posting the tor warnings, but anything about what a certain chaser thinks we can do that ourselves. I don't want to come across harsh to @Kds86z and I don't like to be harsh but these posts do clog some of the more in depth/insightful posts made. It's nothing bad to post if a tornado warning has been issued but the chaser opinions should probably keep out of it. There's a reason I migrated to this platform mostly for weather talk because a lot of the community have no patience/sense for events and scream FCAD anytime a event underperforms.
While we're on this topic and this event is winding down, I personally think that the 1-3 word posts saying "OMG" ,"Holy smokes", etc. whenever an ongoing tornado is posted clog up the thread significantly more than posting twitter links to tornado warnings. Not accusing anyone in particular, just a general observation. At least the tornado warnings provide context to the event for someone scrolling through the thread at a later date. Anyone with 2 functioning eyes and ears can look at the videos of the Union City tornado and say or think that to themselves. It actually makes it harder for people to provide meaningful contributions because it makes the thread move so fast

Totally agree and I have caught myself replying to posts like “I agree” and such and I deleted those because that’s why we have the ability to “like” posts etc.

I don’t have a busy life, so I just weather nerd out. I know a lot of people are busy and I don’t want people to have to dig through dozens of pages to catch up when perhaps they have limited time. This came across my mind before it was brought to my attention that maybe the posts are too much. I was just trying to help as I know one user told me over DM they didn’t have X so they like seeing my posts etc. So i thought maybe for those who don’t have it, it is nice to see updates. And yeah instead of saying “oh wow” to a tornado video or post, one can do the wow emoji. HOWEVER, I think a tornado like union city video when it was tearing homes up, it’s totally justified for a few dramatic one word responses and that does not bug me.

Anywho! Thanks for your patience and going forward things will be different.
