They've kinda fallen apart. I'm not sure they're going to do much other than a cool lightning show.

These Low level Lapse rates are not looking nearly as strong as they were earlier.

I'd say they're holding their own for the time being. SPC maintains the 5% for eastern Iowa into southern Wisconsin overnight, although I'm not sure the extent to which I believe that given that we didn't clear out *at all* during the daylight hours. Any destabilization will have to result from rapid northward advection of warmer/moist surface air combined with cooling aloft. Not going to rule out the possibility after what we've already seen from this system, though.

Yeah, most likely. I’m not really seeing a whole lot that justifies the SWMO risk currently. Radar is so messy that a 5% hatch seems like the right call

Did it take nearly half an hour for the 01Z outlook to populate on the SPC site for anyone else? Meanwhile, the CoD site (which for some reason has always, in my over 20 years now of being an Internet weather nerd, displayed it much faster than the website of, you know, the actual organization that generates it) appears to be not able to interpret the new CIG hatching correctly, so it just displays everything as "no hatching." Annoying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Union City gets a violent rating then it would be one of the only (maybe the first? I think there might have been one or two back in the 50s and 60s but I can't quite remember) violent "snownadoes" on record.

I know. I’m not quite sure what they want to do, but with Kansas, you never know.
