Pretty sobering sight on radar as multiple wildfires burn in Oklahoma and Kansas today. The one in Beaver County, OK as already blown past 150,000 acres.

I seen 85/30 observed in Woodward and was like "if anything gets going, it's gonna be probably more major than the Beaver fire"
That's a extremely dry airmass combined with 60 mph wind gusts. very dangerous.

I read a post from Jason Simpson that it has been exactly four years today since Jefferson County, Alabama (Birmingham) was last under a tornado warning. Amazing.
That is way hard to believe, even Atlanta was a few months ago.

Not impressed with the severe threat Saturday for AL. Mean flow is very zonal and as a result, there is almost insignificant directional shear. If the wave were to come in more amplified and start developing a cyclone along the frontal boundary, I'd be more interested.

Right now there is a large marginal risk north of I-20 on Friday night and south of I-20 on Saturday.

The Marginal Risk for tonight was dropped while Saturday’s Marginal Risk for South Georgia was trimmed back. Right now, it looks like not making a thread for this weekend was a good call.

Some strengthening is occurring with some of the storms moving through central Alabama. The storm over Tallapoosa county has shown some signs of rotation as it rides along the stalled front. I’m doubtful it will do anything given the low overall helicity and meager low level lapse rates.

An MD is out for central Georgia indicating an isolated chance at severe thunderstorms early this afternoon, but not enough organized convection to issue a weather watch.
