Severe Weather 2025

Credit: Live Storms Media / Brett Adair. This tornado was incredibly violent. The debris cloud, roar, and motion at around the ~50 sec mark is everything you expect to see out of an EF4+ tornado. I know this statement has really been beaten to death this year and should be used more sparingly going forward, but honestly I really think this tornado genuinely reached EF5 intensity during this period. It definitely won’t receive an EF5 rating but it most certainly has the look and motion of one. Just an absolute monster of a tornado, and a perfect example of a violent drillbit.

Also, not really related to the tornado’s strength at all, but the way the vortex behaves at the very end of this video is absolutely fascinating.

EDIT: This still image of the tornado from the video is just ridiculous. Any rating lower than EF4, whether it is reasonable or not, will not accurately depict the intensity of this thing.

Love him or hate him, Reed nailed it on this storm and posted incredible footage.
He also was completely blocking the road for no reason at one point and ended up causing an accident getting out of it. That was pure stupidity.

I've really soured on Reed this year. His current copyright lawsuit, and the way he goes after anyone who shares his videos is crazy. There was a time he was the best chaser, but there are plenty of people who are just as good if not better who manage to capture tornadoes without terribly shakey iphone footage full of screaming and gagging. His tornado intercepts are completely useless too because he doesn't even bother publishing any of the data he collects (if he's actually even collecting anything).

He launches gimmicky rockets and projectiles into tornadoes that don't actually do anything at all, and apparently his anemometer doesn't even work because he hasn't said anything about windspeeds from any of the tornadoes he's intercepted this year.

Plus he has taken hype casting to a whole new level, by just straight up posting blatantly incorrect and over exaggerated forecasts to the point he's actually creating panic for people in the threat areas.

He's a decent chaser surrounded by a group of clowns. That's it. He contributes nothing to the weather community or tornado science, and his only goal is producing viral content for his own personal gain.

That one was very weird. No chasers or CC drop so I wasn’t sure it was down + it was pretty short lived. Also way outside the risk area. Pretty sure it was a boundary rider but I’m not sure.
I'm not so sure that tornado was short-lived, that couplet lasted awhile. That storm also had 4.5" hail and 80-90 mph wind gusts, monster of a supercell.
