Personally, I feel like these kind of zero effort posts and nothing statements are better for discord, personal messages, or the weather banter thread than the rest of this forum. What does Reed Timmer meeting a tall storm chaser have to do with severe weather? This website's notifications only show the first reply after your last visit, so you either have to constantly come and view these pointless comments and get notified every 10 minutes, or you miss when people are actually posting high-effort, important, and/or relevant information. God forbid you take a break for a few days, then you have to read through five pages of junk just to get caught up.

Not trying to be rude, or call either of you out personally, just using these as examples of comments that don't really belong in this thread.

You… do realize that posts don't have to be five quadrillion words to be “quality”, right? Also, it really doesn’t take that long to read through five pages.

You do realize there are actual meteorologists, weather experts, storm chasers, etc. here right? Not only that, but they were here first, and this is their forum. There are plenty of other forums for banter and low effort posts like Reddit, Twitter, Discord, and Facebook Groups just to name a few.

All I'm (and others have been) saying is comments here should actually have value and contribute something relevant to the threads they're made in, and the many experts and longtime users here should have space to share their analysis and data without it immediately getting buried by irrelevant junk. I really don't thiink that's asking too much.

Okay…? Given your past history here I 100% won’t be changing your mind, but all I’ll say is to not make the newcomers feel like crap by calling out completely-fine posts. I don’t really think that’s asking too much. If you’d like to continue lets take it to DMs, as we (yes, we) are currently cluttering this thread for “only meteorologists and storm chasers”.

If extremely gentle and valid criticism makes newcomers feel like crap they're probably not going to last very long here. This place can get very heated sometimes haha. Also, you just signed up 3 months ago, A lot of users --including some who have voiced similar concerns-- have been here for 10-15 years. Maybe wait a little longer before trying to dictate what's "fine" and "not fine"?

We're just trying to make this a better forum for everyone, including newbies (which I also am). No one is saying you can't participate. This site just isn't set up to operate like a discord server or reddit megathread, so it's way more time consuming and frustrating sifting through the spam.
 
Oh okay I see I also saw that there might be cold spells at least that’s what someone posted with the euro and apparently we are in a +pna pattern also with the mjo at phase 8 apparently favourable for tropical weather I saw Reed timmer posted about the gfs and the hurricane mischief and that he said that it could be a weak tropical cyclone which is good but could move moisture apparently to the Great Plains and Midwest region
