Severe Weather 2025

I for one think his research is awesome, and I love his outside the box thinking. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, even if it ends up being wrong.
its to note there is a failure i can see for today, the too wet issue.

K index is over 53 , this is the highest ive ever seen, this could overconvect , it isn't helping the PW is over 1.8 in inches.

note i never stated joplin was a hybrid tornado, i did state the events that had all Green were likely however (joplin had some yellow on that graph)
I'm just going by what appeared to be a colour key in your chart. If it's not a key, then make that clear in the chart.

The former part of my statement is the much larger issue in any case. While some of the mechanisms that you're proposing are possible, you're going to need far more than CAPE/Shear plots to prove that those are actually at play in a given event.

This probably isn’t the place for this, but I think the users of this site need to see this. I had been a member of this site since 2023, and lurked long before that. On Tuesday my account, ColdFront, was banned because I had the nerve to be sarcastic with a certain Moderator, Wes. So whenever the mods are here, minus Michelle, who is the only good one, the slightest sarcastic comment will not only get your account banned, but your IP address too. I’ve noticed the mods lashing out more and more over justifiable criticism, such as the site being stuck in retro mode, being broken for a week, or the “comment is too short” button. Maybe instead of getting offended and banning dissent, they should take in that feedback. I’ve seen people break the rules 10 times over with no punishment, but nice to see one sarcastic comment that apparently hurt a mod’s feelings led to my ban. Oh well, There are other forums out there I can use, but this site has a great collection of users. Just remember this next time they ask for you to donate to the site.

Little late to the game there boss, everyone has moved on.. about a day late and a dollar short

Appreciate your financial assessment, 'boss'. But around here, I reckon the house decides when accounts are settled, 'dollar short' or not.

I definitely get the sentiment and point of this post, but idk if evading a ban (regardless of whether it was justified or not) is the best idea. I also don’t agree that the ban (was it permanent?) was at all justified off a single comment, but I feel like there’s probably more to it.

Oh I fully know this account is going bye bye too. This was just to let you all know the direction this site is going in isn’t a good one. Like I said I’ve been here a while, but others have noticed this too.

Well, that’s fair. I had no idea you were banned; didn’t seem like a justified one either at surface level.

That was literally my single interaction with him after he told me and another user to stop bickering, legitimately a day later when me and said user weren’t even posting. You’re welcome to go look at it from Tuesday in the Enhanced Fujita scale thread. I’m not going to hijack this thread because an event is going on, but just wanted to let some of the users I had talked with pretty often on here know where my account went. Apologies though for hijacking this thread.

It was definitely a perma ban. I couldn’t even access my account.

Man, that f*cking sucks. So sorry to hear, dude. I definitely thought your reply was extremely bold (and a little reckless) considering it's the owner of the site, but definitely not worth a perma ban. Not for how long you've been here and how much you've contributed. I got banned from r/tornado for very similar sentiment after being a huge contributor for a long time and I know the feeling.

I hope Wes sees this and decides to reverse your ban. I recently took a break from this site for a while and during that time I realized there's no need for so much seriousness in some of these clashes. It's just weather, and we're all weather nerds here. I've been having a much better time here since I've dialed it back and improved my tone. I'd recommend this to anyone who finds themselves butting heads with other users more often than they'd like: just chill out!

If you're going to circumvent the ban, i'd use the time to apologize to Wes and try to get reinstated, not digging in your heels and making it worse. We all want to see you remain a member here.

It is Mike Morgan lol
Besides the one incident in 2013, I don’t get all the hate behind Morgan. He seems like a good dude and has saved countless lives; one bad call shouldn’t overshadow his entire 20+ year career. Not to mention the fact that Moore literally had an EF5 go through eleven days earlier; the “drive south” comment was in good faith and was an in-the-moment reaction.

I appreciate the kind words, and I’m not going to keep making posts about this since this outflow boundary may go in a sec in Oklahoma, but there was zero malice in my comment to him. I do have a dry sense of humor, and maybe it came across as having scorn in it, but it was legitimately just me being sarcastic because it had been a day since I had argued with the user. As far as I know, I’m permanently banned off the site. Y’all enjoy! I’ll still lurk and read the awesome contributions .

It wasn't just one bad call, he did that for a good year or so, telling people to drive south etc. It just culminated on the El Reno day where he's beyond lucky it didn't get a lot of people killed. And it may actually have due to people getting caught in the flooding that came after. That and there isn't a storm he doesn't hype, no matter the severity.
