Severe Weather 2025

Too early for specifics beyond Thursday-Friday, but 00Z CFS/GFS are quite active at least through the middle of next week, then the former suggests more systems through at least May 10th. All the days combined could affect a large swath including the Plains, Midwest, Ohio Valley and the South.
Dunno what the track record is for this model, but I came across this in my FB feed.

On another note, I just saw this post from a few days ago. I believe there was an additional two weak tornadoes a few days later in MI, so we're already up to 16 total this year. Not too crazy relative to surrounding states, but still pretty noteworthy locally. The past few years have had some interesting MI events - 2022 the Gaylord EF3, 2023 the outbreak that included the deadly EF2 that went down I-96 in Webberville, and 2024 with the outbreak that included the first MI tornado emergency, as well as the rare February EF2 in Grand Blanc.

Am I the only one here not having as much of a problem?

I'm finding that pages are loading slowly and the comment box can take a very long time to appear. But I can still comment normally when it does.
Ya know you're right, For some reason I hadn't noticed the comment box also loads in alongside the pics. Maybe it is just a lengthy loading issue. Same with the reaction options, those pop back up too once it all loads. Still might be a bit annoying for some if there's a severe event and the threads are still loading really slow.

The photo heavy nature (and big photos at that) of this forum has always made it slow for me, but it's been significantly slower on top of that recently.

Look at the silver lining though, if it's loading slowly during severe events, people might think about posting something more insightful than 'there are no words'.

It really is surprising how Alabama has (besides the 15th but Mississippi got the worst) avoided a very high caliber outbreak the past 4 years. Seems like every region has had a big outbreak in that time frame. ArkLaMiss, Western KY and TN, the Ohio valley, the plains last year. Even the northern plains got in on the action on 4/26 last year.

Alabama had a pretty quiet period in the mid 2000s before Super Tuesday didn’t they?

I know right? It’s also interesting looking at the amount of deadly/high caliber outbreaks over the years. There seems to be one outbreak every year that truly stands out among the others.
