Severe Weather 2025

Certainly a system worth watching - and additionally, the 12z GFS is absolutely insane for the troughs beyond that. Definitely won’t happen like it’s saying it will atm, but it certainly looks like we’re entering into an active period here.
I mean thats expacted, mid October is gen when second season, (tethered with much better organized events), really gets going

Kinda off topic, but I knew you guys would get it. I'm so happy!! I've been wanting a copy of this book for DECADES and it just popped up on eBay and will now finally be mine!

Funny you bring this up...

You know those little tornado tubes that you shake in a circular motion and it creates a 'tornado' inside the bottle? Think the Tedco Pet Tornado.

A company based El Reno, OK made them as promo items for the Twister movie. First in 1996 when it first came out in theaters, and again in 97 for its premiere on HBO.

They are a bit hard to come by these days. Ignoring the bozo that wants $100+ for this one, they do show up for more reasonable prices a few times a year. And out of the blue, one showed up for $22 a few days ago, I was the only bidder and ultimately won the auction.

It'll be a nice little piece to add to my tornado tube collection - especially since tornado tubes are one of the few things you can actually collect in this hobby.

So cool! I have a coffee mug from the Twister: the Ride from when it was at Universal Studios. It was an awesome "ride" and I hate they got rid of it.

You’re so lucky! I’ve been looking for this one for years!

I’ve also been looking for this (pictured) very rare book published by the amish about the ‘74 outbreak titled “Alabama Tornado”. I would pay $$$$ to get my hands on this one.

Oooh, I didn't know about the Amish one! The Amish and Mennonites came and helped rebuild after the outbreak. Now I have to have that one too!

GFS supercell composite is getting pretty spicy for October 14/15 and 17/18. Here's a nice little cherry picked sounding from Southern Kansas to make things interesting. 0-1km SRH and 1-3km SRH and eff shear are looking very high for the 14/15 system as well. View attachment 47033
Will Alabama be affected by the October 17/18 system? That weekend is the Third Saturday in October rivalry game and it’s at night this year.

Some hint at an increase in activity towards the end of next week as the jet returns south and favorable ridging over the SE increases moisture return. Both the CMCE and the EPS have a trough developing over the western and central US around that time.

I'm not really sold on it, but there are enough interesting elements it might be worth watching.

Found a couple analogs for tomorrow

This was a couple photogenic tornadoes in Texas

If anything does happen tomorrow it'll be pretty at least!
