Great chaser video of the Watertown, SD tornado from Sunday.
Man, what is it about the Northern Plains in summer and tall, narrow yet extremely violent "drillbit" tornadoes? From Manchester (in its later stages), to Elie, and several examples in MN, and now this. It seems to be a uniquely common occurrence here compared to other parts of Tornado Alley. I wonder if a commonality to the general conditions that occur in these setups exists, such as hot temperatures leading to high (but not prohibitive) temperature/dewpoint spreads, and high 0-3KM CAPE.
