Severe Weather 2024

NWS Lubbock surveyors coming in clutch with yet another lazy bulls&*t mental gymnastic stunt in tornado record keeping.

Instead this time, not only in tornado ratings, but just straight up sweeping entire tornadoes under the rug so they can just “combine” them into one single track.

Wait what happened?

Oh I see

We had a fatality in ETX from the storms this week after a tree fall. Haven't had any particularly crazy storms here but its been daily torrential rainfall for over a week and the ground is completely saturated. Also tens of thousands without power and some pretty bad flooding in some areas. Looking like we have another round tomorrow morning before finally getting a (much needed) break.

Speaking of anomalous tornadoes, I'm surprised the landspout near Rusty Point, Alaska in April didn't get a mention sooner:

Classic 2024-ing. This quote from NWS Anchorage caught my attention: "These events, while not rare, go mostly unnoticed due to our topographically diverse area." Not to mention Alaska's swiss cheese radar coverage somehow makes Mississippi's look amazing.
