I think its going to break into 2 supercells. The southern one headed just north of La Grange and toward the FFC radar site. The northern headed toward Carrolton. There may even be a farther north one heading toward Heflin Al right
GREAT! (sarcasm) I'm just north of LaGrange....I pray it weakens.

i-65 closed at exit 266. I believe that's the exit for Fultondale.

This is absolutely devastating...thoughts and prayers with all of you guys down there. The link is a pic from Twitter. The view is looking down 15th street in Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa Damage

Damage is many times more difficult to look at when you know the place.

Read on Twitter just now that "Tuscaloosa officials" gave the 25 figure, but that's not confirmed.

Also, from WSFA down in Montgomery, tweeted just now:

Quote

Alabama initiating Emergency Medical Plan. Haynes in Montgomery sending 5 ambulances to North Alabama

It's still going on further north and east, but I can't follow any more right now. My stepsister lives in Hueytown - we never got along and I have no way to know how she made out. Hope they're all well.

It was relatively easy to know how to help back on December 16, 2000. What can a person up here in the Frozen North best do to help out in all this?

I saw one report that said that area was a war zone...

Shear vectors beginning to...linearize? Whatever the term, the 0z FFC sounding shows less directional shear.

Lightning off the storm. Gonna miss me to the north. If there's a TOR on the ground I will be able to see it probably.

Wow, what horrible timing, I'm in Cartersville, GA on a business trip, I spotted a definite rotation (thanks to 211 lightning strikes a minute) just a few minutes ago but it passed a few miles to the north of me in Cassville. More on the way....

It jogged due east last scan taking it south of Jasper. 92mph shear being picked up but thats way up there too. Who knows how strong that is on the ground.

Looks like a distinct hook is starting to reemerge, too.

There's a second tornado near Polk, GA which is taking almost an identical track to it, as well. Could be a double-whammy...

Looks like 2.00"+ diameter hail in both supercells, as well.
