That is the single most amazing storm I think I have ever seen. That thing traveled more than 500 miles and survived 3k-4k foot peaks for nearly 100 of that. Absolutely stunning.

How did Cleveland/Dahlonega fare in the storms?

The storm in Newton County near Covington, GA is trying to recycle itself. Seeing a definite updraft now on the base velocity, and it looks like it wants to rotate on storm-relative.

Sadly the day did not disappoint and was as intense as the off the charts numbers suggested. Never have I and maybe never again will I read "Spotters are tracking a large and extremely dangerous tornado." as many times in a few hours.

I can answer Dahlonega.

Rotating storm went thru about an hour ago and dumped .90" of rain in very short order (.41 of that fell in 10 minutes) and had some small hail. The power flickered but never went out. Peak gust that my VP2 recorded was 36 but it's only 6 feet off the ground.

And that storm just got warned, while the GR3 Meso icon popped up as I was posting the last message.

That last cell showed some good rotation as it moved out of the county but as far as I know we escaped entirely unscathed. Saw a ton of concentrated lightning strikes up towards Unicoi but I haven't heard any reports of anything bad. Praise the Lord for that.

I saw my share of sever weather for the year. My old church i used to go to seems to have been damaged. The reported death from my county was from a car accident. So for now there been no reports of death from this storm system. I hope it stays that way.

This is unconfirmed at this moment...

I don't know if this is correct, people tend to over exagerate in times like these, but if true then damn...

waoo report

Again want to stress unconfirmed.

I stress this is hear-say as well but as I was leaving UAB Med West from having ridden the storm out there, they issued a "Code Yellow". I asked some of the staff what that meant. The group replied that no medical staff could leave due to incoming patients. I was also told of some disturbing casualty totals from Tuscaloosa RUMORED. I can only hope these reports were both errant in their info! Confirmed total is bad enough!

A little one off Crow Springs rd. Church of the Covenant.

Edit, a friend of mine confirmed that only the foundation of the church is there.

i was in west birmingham this evening. much of hueytown, at least the southern part, fared okay. once you got up closer to concord and pleasant grove though it was absolutely awful. ambulances everywhere, homes destroyed, people crying for help. and of course it was completely dark. very eerie.

Brad Nitz is monitoring a possible tornado near Monticello, Georgia. Of immediate concern to me is the storm near Madison.

Its been a rough night here as well in northeast Tennessee! We had four different tornado warnings and two different severe storm warnings within a 4 hour range in our county alone! There have been reports of windows knocked out of homes and cars and even houses destroyed 40 miles to our southwest. Greene Co, has 3 confirmed fatalities already. Its been a scary night for us, as well as MOST everyone in the southeast. I hope everyone is OK.

This was hail that was falling at my house with tornado warning #1!!
