I can't recall a non MCS situation where we had tornado situations in the Athens area and Birmingham area almost at the same time. May have been 2003.

Damage pics so far mostly look like trees down. Haven't seen anything that looks like the tornado was intense.

Not a peep of sun, but we are at 72.3F/TD 71.4F at my location.
Just based on radar, I'd be surprised if it is stronger than EF1 or maybe EF2 in places.

Is everything around central alabama choking off the storms in North Alabama? The N Al storms can’t get going.
It had a very strange signature, that's for sure. Kept seeing a TDS when nothing was on the ground.
I'm not sure why you think nothing was on the ground. A TDS itself means it is on the ground.

It was on the ground with that TDS. BMX thinks the radar beam was being blocked due to Oak Mountain.
