Severe WX Severe Threat 17-18 March 2021

I really really hope not many fatalies or injuries occur with this outbreak, but i feel like that won’t happen. I really feel like this will be really nasty as the night goes on. i really feel bad for everyone in these storms
Unfortunately we already have reports of injuries coming in.

any reports on major damage?
I've seen a couple of shots that look like solid EF3 damage. No signs of clear violent damage yet, but we're a long way from being out of the woods.

Lol, yeah I read that. Was hoping someone who knows a helluva lot more than I do could offer any outlook for the area around Chattanooga. Last I heard, it's supposed to get rough around 2 am. With the rain and all, did that change things? Did the wedge hold? Trying to learn so I don't have to ask

I am not a meteorologist. This is my opinion only. I think your biggest threat will be the eventual squall line winds and any embedded cells in the line that rotate. I think your tornado threat is quite low.

Best source for more specific information is going to be your NWS forecast office which I believe is Morristown.

Yeah that could abruptly change. considering we have a nighttime high risk squall on the way. major strong-violent tornadoes could hit a major town at night

Looking at how many of the tornado warnings thus far have been repeatedly training over southeast MS and southwest AL, I can't help but wonder what the damage paths would look like once the storms have passed. We'll almost certainly have to wait until the surveys have been finished up, but I personally wouldn't be surprised if at least a couple paths ended up overlapping at some point.

Thanks for the info. I'm a novice weather nerd at best. I pray you all stay safe!!

Hey everyone
Currently at work, how has the event unfolded so far? Have we seen the worst of the tornado activity? I certainly hope so.
All things considered, so far so good.

Dozens upon dozens of warnings but very few have been EF2+ based on damage reports so far, and the tornadoes have, for the most part, missed major towns. It seems like recent damage in Chilton County has been the worst of it so far in Alabama.

But that could still change as there are ongoing warnings and still quite a few hours left before the tornado threat diminishes.

People want to act like that guy is trolling but the reality is that really not much has happened back in western parts of the high risk area. In areas where storms have fired and have been rotating, they have not been dropping significant, long-track tornadoes. So far.

Not to say there are no problems or people should let their guard down, but if 12 hours ago someone had told you we'd have this many warnings but this little damage, and no violent long-trackers, I think we would all agree that is a good outcome.

Here is the graphic for the latest Meso. And, I've been here for many years and I've never seen so many bozos posting in the middle of an unfolding event. Is this a covid thing?

I am confused because our temps have stayed below 70° all day and it looks like the warm front is not moving, yet we are still in this red circle? I am in Walker County.

I really think that we will get several EF3s and a couple of EF4s based on the signatures and damage so far
We may wind up with a couple EF4s, but I don't think we've seen any so far based on damage I've seen... unless the EF4 damage just totally missed all towns and buildings. I'd be surprised if we have had more than 1 or 2 EF3s so far.

The storm approaching Unadilla, GA seems to be strengthening a little too, more defined rotation.
