Recon still has a max of 909.5 for pressure drop. So I'm guessing the deepening may be leveling off.

If it manages to avoid an EWRC before it starts intensifying again then it really could go sub 900mb.

I get the sense we’ll likely never know for sure Melissa’s true intensity due to the dangerous flight hurricane hunters have to make. I don’t blame them for that though.

Looks like Melissa (at least from what I could tell) took another southwest jog. Certainly doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to take a northward path right away.
AF308 (Mission 20) should be back in the eye now. (I fired up Google Earth with the recon kmz - I had forgotten how cool that is.)

um, sorry but WHAT?! I don't usually use all caps when reacting but we're completely sure that's accurate data and that Melissa is actually sustaining 190+?
Is it possible that the higher winds in the higher levels are translating to the surface now? This is the most absurd wind speed measurement I've seen in my short time of tracking hurricanes.
