Hurricane Melissa

Wasn’t one of the indicators of Patricia’s extreme intensity a thick, solid ring of -90 C cloud tops just enveloping the entire CDO basically instantly? Not saying this thing is at Patricia intensity because that’s clearly erroneous, but if you asked me what I thought the pressure was just looking at this storm on satellite, I’d guess easily below 905 mb, perhaps sub 900.

It is interesting that it's got such a structure at, based on recon, a pressure in the 930s.

So the chances are it is potentially rivaling the top 5 strongest Atlantic hurricanes. But it remains 145mph cat 4. Right now. I'm a little bit annoyed with recon gaps.

Predictable.

If they’re scared to go inside because of satellite estimates. Fine enough for them. But still. This lack of recon.

Final rating 155mph or 160mph in post analysis.
