Some interesting facts about QLCS tornadoes (spinups).

According to research by Smith, et al., they only reach EF3 strength < 1% of the time they occur.

I would say this current extended outbreak has seen more EF3 spinups than usual.

Historically when I've been in the midst of rough storms, I've looked forward to things going linear because the tornado threat usually seems to decrease - not necessarily fewer of them, but less intense. With these recent storms, though, I'm not sure a linear system is going to make me feel much better. :oops:
 
Confirmed tornado in PA. Could be a problem for Scranton if that storm holds together.
 
PDS warning on tornado near scanton, PA. Not really sure why, considering it's a radar confirmed tornado and not a strong one at that. I couldn't blame them for being antsy after last night, though.

Well that was interesting. Went out spotting for a bit when the tor-warned storm was over in Bradford & Wyoming Co, PA. This area is super hilly and heavily wooded so my view was pretty limited, not to mention the heavy precip, but I was able to see a very distinct lowering and eventually a funnel cloud. Couldn't tell if it was down at the time but there was some fairly considerable damage. Turned out chasing from my driveway wasn't that much of an exaggeration after all.

I can't find any live chasers on either supercell. Lou Ruh is on it on Severestudios, but I think his location is glitched as he would be right in front of the base if it was correct.
 
PDS warning on the southern cell. Tipton may be about to take a direct hit. NSSL mobile mesonet reporting violent tornado.

EDIT: There actually appears to be two rotations on the Tipton cell. Twins, maybe? They're both very close together.
