Severe WX May 2019 Plains Severe Event

Nothing much came of the tornado warning. They measured a 68 mph gust at Reagan though. It was definitely breezy for a bit.

I didn't get the chance to take any pictures but thankfully someone else did. Lots of reports of trees down and power outages in northern Virginia and a few in Maryland. The Metro had to shut down west of Falls Church, VA because it lost power.

Multiple EF3 damage points found in Jefferson City, was more consistently intense than I thought looking at aerials. The lack of fatalities is even MORE impressive; a Hattiesburg 2013/St Louis 2011 situation.

Meanwhile... the location of the two fatalities in Golden City looks high end. I can't post the photo because the site refuses to let me post images but, yeah, rather severe damage.

Do we know anything about the building construction where the fatalities occurred? Hard to infer much from those photos.

Golden City rated low EF3. Not sure if preliminary or not, I'm sure surveys still ongoing. Destroyed home was nailed to cinder block foundation so no high quality construction there.

Seeing mostly low EF3 in Carl Junction too. Really hard to get anything higher.

NWS Amarillo says large tornado on the ground with that middle storm. Tornado warnings in West Virginia and New York too because why not.

That's the left edge. Violent tornado that's at least a mile wide and completely shrouded in rain. There's an audible roar on Brett Adair's stream.

appears to be dissipating. Large tornado that thankfully hit in the middle of nowhere. If the cell wasn't an HP monster it would've been a beautiful close up for Adair, who missed the tornado by a mere couple hundred yards.

That is some INTENSE motion, what a tornado. Given the parameters might be one of the most intense this year, though doubt it hit anything.
