Severe WX March 21-23 2022

Yesterday and tonight have featured a shocking number of incredible videos... been quite an event

Anyone know the building codes for that part of NOLA? If hurricane clips are required and homes aren't grandfathered into the code that would lend credence to a higher rating and we could definitely be talking greater than EF2 here

There's some speculation that the Chalmette video shows car headlights being vaulted around the tornado, and now photos are coming in showing thrown and mangled cars; definitely a higher end tornado

In the video above, posted by OHWX97, you can slow the video down around the 4-5 second mark and something with lights absolutely rotates around the tornado.

Went back to look at it at peak, shallow but strong, tight circulation
Reminds me of Cookeville 2020, (though don't think it was quite as shallow as this) Bowling Green 2021, and East New Orleans 2017

If Winterset, IA, yesterday, and today aren't a clear warning signal to show you what this large scale La Nina background state is capable of, I just don't know what to tell you. TNI is high-end positive right now. We will have to watch every incoming system like a HAWK going forward.

Storm report map starting to fill out; even without the warm sector going off as expected, it's looking more and more like we will get close to verifying. Not that MDT wasn't a good call; the parameters definitely demanded it. Expect more reds to fill in across SW AL and probably Moundville

Yeah. Obviously this didn't underperform in the Mod areas by the end of today. The dynamics just didn't reach as far north as projected/feared. I went to LSU for 2 years & still have friends in NOLA.
