The storm at Villa Rica looks to be tightening up rotation a little bit. Hard to tell.

Just went TOR.

n/m. Poster above posted picture/link.

Rare chance to use TATL radar.

Seeing some broad rotation centered in NW Midtown and Lithia Springs. Lithia Springs rotation is tighter.

Good rotation now west of Atlanta airport.

Wasn't the Jacksonville tornado after dark?

The HRRR didn't get the placement exactly right but it got the broad idea that the storms over Eastern AL around Etowah/Calhoun/St. Clair would kick back up and that there would be more favorable SIGTOR there.

Ironically it showed this solution around 2pm, but then later went away from it before correcting back to it. I'll see if I can find the images from then. Overall the HRRR was hardly a precise tool for today, but it got a lot of the broad impacts and trends correct.

This isn't the look I was referring to in my post above, but it's fairly close. At one point the HRRR accurately had Cullman, St. Clair, Marshall, Etowah, Calhoun, etc painted with highest SIGTOR values.

I wish I could find the exact map, but it is gone. I was messaging someone saying the HRRR said the risk would be NW AL shifting into Cullman and then into Dekalb, Etowah, Marshall, and Calhoun.

I guess if you pick one version of the HRRR you were liable to find one that was somewhat close. But that's the whole issue. It wildly changed its solutions numerous times and had initialization issues.

Yep. Good catch. Seems to be a fake (perhaps a different storm somewhere or perhaps photoshop). Like I said, early reports have to be taken with a skeptical view.
