Allen 1980 and Ivan 2004 had three Cat 5 peaks, Irma 2017 had two Cat 5 peaks, I don't know about how fast they regained Cat 5 though.

Very typical EWRC thing - weaken during, ramp back up after. That it's happening with a 4 and 5 is unusual because storms that strong are rare, but the basic process it went through was pretty typical. The difference over time is in available ocean heat content. Not going to get into why in this chat, but nothing unusual about the way Milton did the EWRC.

Maria 2017 had 2 Cat 5 peaks as well.
 
I am unfortunately seeing a lot of conspiracy theories from an uneducated public.

I'm seeing people throw around terms like cloud seeding and HAARP like they know what they mean.

I'm seeing people claim that the government is controlling the hurricanes and their paths for political reasons for the upcoming election.

Worst of all, these conspiracies are reaching large audiences. Normally, I'd just brush them off as a couple of crazy people, but what they are spreading is a dangerous rhetoric that has hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of views on social media.

Please, if you know anybody spreading these theories or come across one on your social media, please try your best to combat the spread of misinformation. You could save lives of people who were previously not just uninformed, but misinformed.

Yeah, I've been seen alot of that crap going around on Twitter and it's making me mad.
 
This just seems like Ian but on steroids.
(Ian was an off-shore Cat 5 but weakened to a high-end Cat 4 before landfall)

I get what you’re saying, but I’m afraid it’s a losing battle unfortunately. Even the word “misinformation” has itself become a misnomer due to such HAARP and other conspiracies going mainstream.

The only thing we can do is make sure it doesn’t happen here. If the general public wants to see us as nothing more than a bunch of weenies, so be it! They can have their “man made hurricanes/tornadoes/disasters” and “X locale deserved it” comments.
 
Milton's eye is further clearing out it seems. I saw a loop on TT for Milton, it seemed to stay in place for a moment but near the end of the loop it turned towards the E or ENE and began moving again.

If I see any of that crap on this forum, the person posting it will disappear permanently. I was trying to educate people on X, but there's just too many idiots, not enough time. Some of them are even saying NEXRAD radar is causing storms. My patience is gone.
