For the Wichita, KS EF3 tornado on April 14, 2012 I heard mass devastation is highly likely making the area unrecognizable to survivors. That phrase is definitely true of what is happening tonight.
 
283mph gate to gate velocity at 5,000 feet above the ground in MO near Caruthersville, making this the strongest tornadic gate to gate couplet in Doppler radar history. Previous was a tie between Greensburg KS 2007 EF5 and Tuscaloosa AL 2011 EF4 at 280mph. So far hit 3 states

Im wondering if the event here tonight overperforms or if the dynamics just arent as extreme here. Memphis hit 80 today. Some of W. AL had mid 70s, Tuscaloosa hit 75, but Bham didnt hit 70 til 7 pm. Now its 71 but Id rather things wind down before this gets here.
 
Really hope it misses Mayfield...

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Central Graves County in western Kentucky...

* Until 1015 PM CST.

* At 925 PM CST, a confirmed large and destructive tornado was
observed over Mayfield, moving northeast at 60 mph.

TORNADO EMERGENCY for Mayfield! This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS
SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Deadly tornado.

SOURCE...Weather spotters confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris
may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile
homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes,
businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete
destruction is possible.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
central Graves County.

This includes Interstate 69 in Kentucky between Mile Markers 18 and
25.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a large, extremely dangerous and potentially deadly
tornado is on the ground. To protect your life, TAKE COVER NOW! Move
to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid
windows. If in a mobile home, a vehicle or outdoors, move to the
closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
