And I think that storm now has a hail core. I think. The tail end will be going right over my house, so I'm watching it closely.
I am at the lake, on the wide part by Calvert Point, before you get to the Castle if you're coming from SL Park. Rain has just begun and there is a lot of thunder, but not much lightning showing here just yet. Rain is increasing rapidly and it's getting hard to see all the way across the lake now.My son called a few minutes ago to ask what things looked like. He and his friend were at Smith Lake Park and they could see it from there. He's on his way home.

I’m honestly shocked. All the damage photos I’ve seen from that one show relatively minor to moderate damage. Must be based on something that wasn’t photographed. The Bonaire, GA tornado will be rated EF-3. Barring any last-minute changes.
All done. Just a bit of rain left and the occasional rumble. Sun shining. It was torrential rain 5 or 10 minutes ago. Can't say I'm sorry to see this one go by so quickly. We're already pretty soggy and don't need a bunch more water. The lake is HIGH and it is really hard to deal with it if it gets much worse. I saw a boat inside its boathouse float by a couple of days ago, ripped loose from the high water. In the time that it has taken me to type this, a minute at most, the rain has completely stopped. Very compact storm. Less than 30 minutes start to finish.Well, after that it should be it because as far as I know, that's the front.
That would make it the strongest tornado in Houston County since the F4 that hit Robins AFB in 1953.The Bonaire, GA tornado will be rated EF-3. Should come out before too long.
Well we know how FFC is after Newnan last year. Not sure if there's a known "tendency" for Charleston though.I’m honestly shocked. All the damage photos I’ve seen from that one show relatively minor to moderate damage. Must be based on something that wasn’t photographed.
Also, if that’s an EF3, I’m very curious to see what rating is decided on for Pembroke/Elladale, GA to say the least.
Sorry to derail the thread, but I think it’s crazy the surveying style of the FFC survey team has done a total 180 in the past two years, from what I’d assume is a staffing change. They went from being extremely conservative and hesitant to hand out anything above an EF3 rating (look at their 4/27 surveys) to now being one of the most liberal, if not the most liberal damage survey team in the US.Well we know how FFC is after Newnan last year. Not to derail it even further, but I've thought for years that Georgia needs another NWS office to cover the central/southern part of the state. FFC's area is just too big. Put an office in Macon or Warner Robins to take some of it off their shoulders.Sorry to derail the thread, but I think it’s crazy the surveying style of the FFC survey team has done a total 180 in the past two years, from what I’d assume is a staffing change. Charleston will be handling the Pembroke, GA survey though, and based on what I remember from the 2020 Easter Outbreak, NWS Charleston has a very fair, middle-of-the road approach that doesn’t lean too conservative or liberal. It did take them a while to upgrade the Nixville, SC tornado from EF3 to EF4, but at least they put in the time to make sure they got it right.
There may have been some tree debarking but I am not exactly sure of it.Ah this might be the basis for the EF3 rating in Bonaire. Collapsed truss tower. I will say I still find the lack of obvious EF3 tree and structure damage a bit questionable. Some offices would consider that to be a contextual discrepancy.
Edit: Seeing a report of a home destroyed outside of Bonaire that I missed. That could very well be the main basis.
