The 3CAPE factor that goes into the VTP formula is normalized by 50 (divided by 50), so a 3CAPE of 4 quadruples the STP essentially. Wild.

IIRC, the 3CAPE part of the VTP is artificially capped at 2 (so anything past 100 3CAPE is not really factored in).

you already see some merging and creating more healthier supercells. It can take a few hours of merging and splitting before only the most mature cells go on. However, to your point, things do look quite crowded in some spots

Don't be so fast on that. The models have been showing consistently that these cells, even with an abundance of them, will constructively feed on each other's boundaries, not destructive. I think the SPC sees that too.

I know the Tylertown, MS tornado did that as soon as the rotation began rapidly tightening up.
