NHC updated there graphics.
Current satellite imagery. 
Happy hour on the 18z 3km nam with a 959mb hurricane at 60 hours in the middle of the gulf lol

Still only a 30 percent chance of development with the system in the eastern Gulf.

A surface low is starting to form. The NHC has increased the likelihood of a tropical cyclone forming within 7 days to 40%.

As of 08:00 EDT, it's up to 80%. She's still battling with some shear and dry air, but she could be named as early as today.

Even with the El Nino we're getting into long range fantasy 'cane season on the GFS.

Although I doubt it will happen, a Hurricane for that part of the Southeast would be historic if it made landfall around Jacksonville, which rarely sees landfalling systems.

Y'know I thought everyone was joking when they would say "The year you buy a generator is the year you end up not ever needing it" -- in reference to hurricanes/storms around here because, see: maritimes -- but the fact that I had quite literally just bought one this year makes me take it a little personally lmao.
There's still a lot more season to this season of course even with El Niño and all; not to mention the fact that I'd rather my province not... be swept out into the ocean but, y'know.
It's a little lame.

Feels way better to know you've got it than it does being stuck in the dark without it, though!
