Don't know about "Mad Max" -- seems to me they're aiming more for the social stratification I found to my shock in the Adirondacks where I went to college in the 1980s: a park for vacationing nobs and tourists, and severe restrictions/poverty for most locals, who couldn't even collect firewood in their backyard.
Commerce is not among the departments ordered to rehire workers, AFAIK.

These are not “random crazies”, there are literally millions of people who believe this stuff now in this country. Please stop with this “oh it’s not that bad” nonsense. If it truly isn’t this bad, prove it. I am from one of the countries that Trump is legitimately talking about annexing against their will. I will not hear this.
That person you quoted was a random crazy, that was my point.
I only posted that because it was one of the reasons I backed off some of the social media stuff the last few years. It’s easy to get caught up in how evil one group/side is and it all gets amplified on twitter/facebook. 20% or more on both ends of the spectrum are lost causes, but that 20% makes the most noise on social media.
I don’t think things are that bad, and I think there’s a lot of hyperbole posted here and other places, but that is mostly irrelevant to the point I was making.

And, what we see on both ends of the spectrum is what often amounts to tribal groupthink.
There are certainly too many, and it would do both parties well to stop entertaining/catering them.

The guy in the Oval Office is one and has surrounded himself with them!
I understand that is the view of quite a few. There’s a few in the current administration I’m happy with and a few I’m not. I’m curious to see where things stand in a year from now.
Perhaps I’m somewhat numb to some of the worst reactions because I saw all the same gnashing of teeth during term 1, much of which was just hyperbole.

You cannot compare Trump T1 to Trump T2. They are not the same. The plan this time was to explicitly install his cronies like Russell Vought and Tom Homan in positions of power so there could be no dissent in the ranks. The fact that shipping immigrants to El Salvadoran prisons that are more like concentration camps and Guantanamo Bay is popular is all I need to say about the radicalism of this movement, especially against immigrants.

This man was in the United States legally, was the father of a 5-year old, and was deported to an El Salvadoran concentration camp prison because of an administrative "mistake". Now they're saying he can't be brought back. This could be anyone. This person is here legally!

Sounds to me like he gamed the courts 6 years ago to avoid deportation, but perhaps his claims are true. Based on his lack of a criminal record in the US, he shouldn’t have been deported to the prison in El Salvador, as it seems the MS-13 ties are pretty flimsy.
Also, “This could happen to anyone!” is quite literally exactly what hyperbole is.
