Ummm...has anyone looked at the GFS for next week? No?

GFS is still insisting on another system in the Gulf the first week of October.

That area of interest is showing up on the Tropical Weather Outlook:

"2. Western Caribbean:
An area of low pressure could form over the western Caribbean Sea by
the middle of next week. Environmental conditions are expected to be
conducive for slow development thereafter while the system moves
generally northwestward, potentially entering the Gulf of Mexico by
the end of next week.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...low...30 percent."

Started a thread for this:

Our late-September stretch of activity continues. A new area for development has been outlined by the NHC, coming off the west coast of Africa.

Advisories forthcoming on TD12 in the Eastern Atlantic.

Does Kirk merit a thread given that it’s probably going to become a major? Not sure if there’s much point in creating a thread for a fish storm but it’s gonna be an ACE merchant if nothing else.

The wave behind it has me worried since it’s at a bit lower latitude and has a more westerly than northerly track and isn’t forecast to recurve as quickly as Kirk.

I personally don't think so, as it's pretty clearly (knocking on wood right now) going to stay out to sea. It would be nice to have a strong system to gawk at with no chance of impacting land for a change.
