Severe Weather 2026

How being someone in the ridge feels like
This Is Fine GIF

I thought there would be a complex of severe thunderstorms over Wisconsin and Michigan this evening. Looks like maybe there is some capping issues occurring there.

CAMS were always pretty wishy-washy about it. HRRR changed the timing of an MCS coming into southern WI by about 6 hours in the span of one hourly run yesterday evening (I think it was 22-23Z, but they're already gone from Pivotal, I can only look at the 6-hourly runs from yesterday - 00, 06, 12, 18Z).

09Z HRRR already has a supercell in northern WI at FH01 that doesn't exist in reality.

Looks like those two storms are interacting in a very favorable way for rotation. Wonder if we will see video/pictures of this at some point or if it's too rain-wrapped

enormous debris ball visible on reflectivity. it's about to become a huge waterspout over lake winnebago.

Off-Topic, but the new Gordie Howe Bridge in Detroit opened this morning. I hope officials don’t have to close it this afternoon with Detroit being in an Enhanced Risk today.
