Severe Weather 2025

Very strong couplet on this storm in eastern New Mexico, near Floyd, NM. Very impressive, and could definitely drop a tornado.

What occurred before tornado genesis is that a “nudger supercell” was ingested into the parent which produced an RFD surge.

The surface boundary as this was occurring was plummeting southward, which supplied the streamwise vorticity into the updraft as the nudger enhanced RFD surge happened.

That’s your very brief tornado, this supercell won’t put down another one, as the tornadogenesis that occurred here is what you would call a “mesoscale accident”.

The boundary is now well south of the supercell which is now in a stable PBL, and elevated.

Least it was a beaut!

Huge MCS across the southern MSV. Expected to migrate eastward with time, may necessitate additional watches across MS and AL.
