Because their job is not as easy as you seem to think it is. Especially on days like today. Spann made a comment about how difficult a warning coordinator’s job is and actually challenged to do the job themselves (lol). Can we refrain from criticizing a job we have no experience or degrees in :/

Just because it is a difficult job doesn’t mean it is above criticism. The actual job is to issue timely warnings for storms like this. Plus, FFC has a reputation for not warning storms that produce tornadoes. This was a quick spin up, based on radar I don’t think they could’ve issued anything before it spun up, but once you have a confirmed tornado on the ground, they dang sure should issue a warning for it.

But the thing is, NWS offices such as BMX prove that while yes, it IS a difficult job, it CAN be done well. I volunteered for a month at BMX in 2009 and that's the best office in the country, IMO. And I will criticize other offices if it is warranted. In this case, it was.

Unless we have been in their shoes, we have no idea what it is like.

One month of experience cannot possibly equate to the amount of experience and education the METs have at BMX, so let’s NOT do that lol

And yes, BMX is very good. They almost have to be with how active their office is (generally speaking) compared to FFC lol

I wasn't saying it was. I have a fraction of the knowledge they do or most of this board does. I realized long ago that my niche is tornado history. I was saying that because while working there I saw what damn fine mets they are.

Gotcha. BMX is VERY responsive on Twitter and their graphics/updates are awesome. Other WFOs can learn from them.
