To those who slept through Ida's landfall in Lousiana, all I can say is no wonder even the NHC practically begged people to leave. The storm explosively intensified into a very high end Category 4 overnight and if I lived in that area I'd probably be dead right now.

Looks to be definitely moving due North now (4:45 pm cst). On its present track, this will put New Orleans in the right quadrant somewhere near sunset. Not a good situation.

The eye is starting to contract rapidly, looks like land interaction is finally impacting the structure of Ida.
