Severe WX Severe Weather Threat 4/2/17-4/3/17

As of right now, I really like the new day 2. Lines up with my thoughts of a more focused threat from Southern AL to the Upstate of SC. Timing will be the big issue. A faster solution will kill the threat on its western edges...perhaps further East as well.

I should add that I think the western edge on the Enhanced/Moderate will be trimmed in time. Best chances along I-85 in Alabama. The Georgia/SC end looks good.

Storm along I-20 in NE LA looks like it might be interesting, but impossible to tell what's going on below 12,000 feet. I've always wondered why KPOE and KLCH are so close to each other, leaving great radar coverage in SW LA but horrible in the no-man's land between SHV, DGX and LZK.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Central and Northern Louisiana
West-central Mississippi
East Texas

* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 135 PM until
900 PM CDT.

...THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION...

* Primary threats include...
Numerous tornadoes and several intense tornadoes expected
Widespread large hail and scattered very large hail events to 3
inches in diameter likely
Widespread damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

SUMMARY...A dangerous combination of parameters suggests that
tornadoes will occur over parts of east TX, northern and central LA,
and eastern MS this afternoon and evening. Strong tornadoes are a
concern.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles
north and south of a line from 85 miles west of Fort Polk LA to 65
miles northeast of Natchez MS. For a complete depiction of the watch
see the associated watch outline update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU0).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

Terrifyingly high probabilities, that. Very strong wording today. If storms keep firing like the one near Alexandria, I'm not going to doubt the decision to go high risk. Might have more significant tornadoes than the last high risk day, at least.

Even with the alexandria cell, I'm still not seeing any of those cells to the south maturing enough. The Alexandria cell was more isolated for a bit before it really went tornadic, and it was sort of easy to see coming; of course the one semi-isolated cell in this environment is going to become a really dominant supercell.

It looks like a decently strong tornado, but it's hard to tell with KPOE down. Anybody have a stream or know of a chaser who's on the storm?
