Time has healed the Clemson beatdown. Somehow, it wasn’t as bad as the 2016 loss to them...at least it didn’t feel that way.

Agreed. Sometimes it's easier to just get your butt beat vs. losing at the end like we did in 2016.

its also easier to get your butts beat than losing at home as a 1 seed in the NIT to Norfolk State.

Time for a change.

I'd rather be absolutely paltry in basketball instead of this mess. At least when we're paltry I dont have to emotionally invest myself in every season only to have it fall apart at the end.

The optimistic side of me thinks Avery may have played the same role Shula did though. Keep the program afloat and recruit some decent to good players that the next coach can come in and actually develop.

They'll probably hire Pitino and then I'll just have to retire from basketball fandom.

*sigh*

I am hearing rumors that Avery is already aware he's on his way out. Apparently him and Greg Byrne had an hour long conversation in the locker room after the game and he may resign on his own terms. Time will tell however.

Avery may actually be one of those guys that can do well coaching an nba team that has mature leadership on the team maybe not college where more and more it’s on the coaches to instill maturity leadership and discipline. They shot their way out of several wins that’s immaturity and selfish play.

My coworkers literally came to check because they thought I was having a heart attack at the end of that game.

Pretty sure Morant from Murray State is the best player in this tournament not named Zion

Ja Morant is legit. I picked that one figuring it wasn’t even an upset. Shout out to Yale and Belmont for letting me down though.

Didn't Avery develop players before coming to Bama? I though he was at one of those in between school that worked on player development. I may be totally off here though.

*edit* Looks like I have him mixed up with someone else*

Still nothing confirmed or even specifics being rumored but Aaron Shuttles is quite credible and it sounds like the pieces are moving now.

AL.com reporting that Avery Johnson and the university are negotiating a settlement. Sounds like he'll be out within the next 24-48 hours.

There is GROWING momentum among insiders now that Rick Pitino is the leading candidate to become our next head coach.

Um... I really am not sure how to feel about this..
