I am again struck by how strong the convection to the SE of Melissa is. Also - she looks as strong right now as she ever has, IMO.

The eye wall CDO on IR got brighter all at once with a faster spin. Could that be another round of RI?

Lightning has also exploded in eyewall. Wish we had a plane in there now.

This thing is exploding again. Usually they last a while at their peak before the EWRC.

Melissa appears to be moving almost due south or south of west.
Wondering if the smaller westward movement will affect its future track when it turns to something more east than expected

I’m telling you a slow moving storm is a nightmare for models to latch on to precisely. When a storm is as strong as this is also slow moving it can create its’ own steering environment to some extent.
