enderlin tornado is a other modern tornado along with gary to be captured by VHS video cameras

I have actually contacted Jack on various social platforms, he's a really great guy for archiving tornado videos and photos, I'm really happy he managed to document some of the more craziest Summer tornadoes in A LONG time! The VHS feel is top notch too

I see Google Maps has pretty new imagery at Enderlin, and you can actually see the scar from the tornado through the fields, and the heavy tree damage. View attachment 47159

Also, it isn't a great view, but they have street view imagery from August, and you can see the destroyed forest from a distance.

Oh, i just realised that! The person modified it to actual surface obs and the adjusted storm motion which led to that absurd hodograph.

Clearing up a quick misconception about Smithville I've seen online - the tornado did not do its most impressive ground scouring the second it had touched down; it had visibly been on the ground for some distance up to that point, and the misconception comes from the fact that the core collapsed just west of this damage, making it seem like it "lifted". Looking at GeoDESY's April 2011 Response Imagery, this reprieve is clearly visible, but so is the damage up to that point.


It did likely cycle just west of this imagery, north of Stockton Road and somewhere over the Tombigbee Waterway.

the real starting point seems to be at the other side of the river (when it was a EF0)

Another interesting note is the fresh but significant tree damage shown around the 07:30 mark in this video. This is at the intersection of MS 25 and Pecan Rd. Considering this location being located roughly 1500 feet south of where the core collapse or vortex breakdown occurred, I find it odd that this damage transpired south the breakdown and it’s reorganization point. Also, the beginning of the video shows possible footage of the cycling over the Tombigbee Waterway.

Agreed. The first image has 4/27 written all over it. Looks like it was illuminated by lightning which does make sense considering it occurred much later in the evening.

Now the second one appears to have some “work” done to it.

All of these were also anchored and well-built with tremendous contextual evidence, so the fact the engineering study claimed “none of them were actually EF5,” is pretty ludicrous. It’d be pretty cool if you were able to geo-map these and plot out the examples of EF5 damage.

The original data was about 2,395 points on a CSV file from Doswell et al that we got and put in google earth and added to, it now has over 5,400 points but yes it was on google earth pro.

I was CLOSE during the early stages, easily within a half a mile or less. (Lucky/blessed to be alive)
I Didn't comprehend the violent and tragic magnitude of this event until days later.
